Benalmádena City Council and the Open Shopping Centre Association (ACCAB) have installed five information panels in Arroyo de la Miel. The panels cost a total of 8,000 euros and provide residents and visitors with information about local businesses and the products and services they offer. This action is part of a wider campaign to encourage local shopping.
With this campaign, the organisers want to encourage residents and visitors to buy from local shops. In addition, promotional bags will be distributed with the message ‘Compra en Benalmádena – Ganamos todos’ (Shop in Benalmádena – We all win). It is important that people realise that they can find everything they need right in their own neighbourhood, with excellent service and high quality.
The campaign was presented by the association’s president, Jesús Fortes. He was accompanied by the councillor for commerce, Raúl Campos. They stressed that the panels promote the Arroyo de la Miel shopping centre and support local businesses. Fortes added that the panels provide an overview of all the affiliated businesses. When new businesses join, the street map is quickly adapted.
The ‘open shopping centre’ covers almost 122,000 square metres and has official recognition from the regional government. In 2018, it received first prize in the open shopping centre category at the Andalusian domestic trade awards.
