Research shows that one in ten road deaths in Spain occurs on roundabouts. It also shows that 60% of drivers do not indicate correctly on roundabouts. That is why the Spanish police have issued new guidelines.

These guidelines are shared via an image of the Guardia Civil on X. The image emphasises that drivers in the inner lane must give way to those in the outer lane and that roundabouts may only be exited from the outer lane. Since the first roundabout in 1976, there are now an estimated 38,000 in Spain. In 2021, the national traffic authority (DGT) already issued guidelines, emphasising that many drivers are still learning how to use roundabouts correctly.
