Dutch are buying more houses on the Costa del Sol than ever before

The Dutch are currently the largest group of foreign home buyers on the Costa del Sol, with a ratio of two to one compared to the British and Belgians. The number of Dutch buyers has risen sharply since the corona pandemic, partly due to the desire for a sunny destination before possible lockdowns and the attractiveness of the region due to the good climate and the possibilities for working from home.

Remarkable increase

The increase in the number of sales of new-build homes as second homes to Dutch people is remarkable, with an increase of 150% between 2024 and 2025. The popular areas among Dutch buyers are Estepona, Torremolinos and Mijas Costa, where they benefit from an attractive standard of living and the possibility to rent out homes when they are not present.
