Guest arrested for arson in Fuengirola apartment

A man has been arrested in Fuengirola after setting fire to his rental apartment on January 2, 2025. Security footage showed the suspect carrying a plastic can filled with petrol before buying a lighter and heading to the Stella Maris tourist apartment complex. The fire, which caused thick smoke visible for miles, quickly spread to neighbouring rooms.

Investigation led to suspected arson in Costa del Sol

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames without any injuries, but the damage to the building was significant. The National Police opened an investigation after forensic evidence showed the fire was started deliberately. The suspect was arrested for arson and endangering life.
