PSOE Alicante will vote this Saturday on the list of delegates for the provincial congress, which will take place next week in Alcoi. The election will mark the official appointment of Rubén Alfaro, the mayor of Elda, as the new secretary general of the party. Alfaro, who is the only candidate, is expected to obtain more than 90% of the votes.

End of division

After the narrow victory of Alejandro Soler over Toni Francés, supported by Ximo Puig, the PSOE of Alicante has ended a period of division. The party, led by Pedro Sánchez, has consolidated its grip on both the province and the country. However, the situation in the Valencia region remains tense. This is evident from several signs of resistance to the central leadership.

Unity list reached after intensive negotiations

The negotiations within the party were difficult. Nevertheless, a unity list was finally presented on Friday. This list represents the different currents within the PSOE. This result was achieved through a strategic concession by the largest faction. It ceded the top positions on the list to Miguel Millana, the current secretary general, and Ana Barceló, a councillor in Alicante.

List of delegates

The list, counts 23 deputies. It reflects a balanced distribution of power. In addition to Millana and Barceló, Quico Fenollar, a future leader of PSOE Alicante, María José Adsuar, linked to Alejandro Soler, and the former security councillor Fernando Marcos follow. The list is made up of half members of the largest faction and three other social-democratic councillors.

Future unity and stability

The aim of this unity list is not only to unite the party internally, but also to present a solid, streamlined leadership.
