Shots fired at Cartagena, in the El Algar district. There, the police arrested a man on Thursday afternoon after he shot his ex-wife and her son several times. The incident followed an argument, during which the man threatened his ex-partner and her child with death.
The 34-year-old man from Torre Pacheco opened fire at the woman’s home on Calle Murillo around 2:42 p.m. Fortunately, the woman and her son were not injured. After the shots near Cartagena, they managed to leave the house and fled to a nearby pharmacy for protection.
When the suspect found them there, he opened fire again on the pharmacy door, but the store owner quickly closed the shutters, preventing the man from entering. The suspect then fled when the police arrived.
Cartagena local police, supported by the Guardia Civil, launched a search of the area. Several streets were closed and residents were urged to remain calm. The woman and her son were taken to the Cabo de Palos police station as a precaution.
