Aemet has issued another weather alert in several regions of Andalusia. The provinces of Malaga and Granada are given a yellow code, while Cadiz is given an orange code. Wind gusts of up to 70 kilometres per hour are expected.
A new Levante storm is moving through the region. From 8:00 a.m. the yellow warning is in effect for both the city and the province of Malaga, the Costa del Sol, the Guadalhorce Valley and the Axarquia areas. The warning will remain active until 5:59 p.m. The easterly wind has a speed of 50 to 60 km/h (force 7). In addition, the waves along the coast can reach 2 to 3 meters high. This can cause dangerous situations.
Recently, extreme storms also hit parts of Spain. Storm Dana caused chaos. Hailstones as big as eggs fell in several regions. Streets turned into rivers, which led to flooding. This caused a lot of problems, especially in the regions of Valencia and Malaga. The storm damaged buildings and vehicles. Flash floods caused serious traffic problems.
Given the current weather warning, it is important to be careful. Local authorities are calling for alertness. Especially along the coast and in open areas, the wind gusts and high waves can be dangerous. Aemet therefore advises to follow the weather forecast carefully. If possible, avoid going on the road during the storm.
