The Guardia Civil and local police have arrested a 55-year-old Algerian in Altea, Alicante province, on suspicion of multiple burglaries in occupied homes. The suspect was known as “the thief of five in the morning”. He carried out his burglaries by breaking into homes through balconies at night while the residents were asleep. <\/p>\n
The investigation began in late 2023. This happened after a series of similar burglaries in a residential area near the center of Altea. The suspect used the nearby beach route to gain access, climbed over fences and reached the balconies of homes. Once inside, he stole, among other things, cash and luxury electronics, such as tablets and photo equipment. <\/p>\n
It was initially difficult to identify the suspect. The help of local residents eventually played a crucial role in gathering evidence against the Algerian. In November 2024, after two new burglaries in another neighborhood, concrete evidence was found that led to the identification of the man. <\/p>\n
The Guardia Civil set up a surveillance operation around the suspect\u2019s home in Altea. After confirming his involvement, he was arrested and his home searched. During the search, officers found stolen goods, including two mobile phones, photographic equipment and tablets. The suspect is now charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft.
