It\u2019s different from M\u00e1laga\u2014perhaps less massive, but certainly no less spectacular. The festivities kicked off at the Municipal Theater<\/strong>, where comedian Jorge Cremades<\/strong> opened the carnival with his signature humor. The following day, the carnival kings were crowned, and the \u2018Golden Shield\u2019 was awarded to Concepci\u00f3n Mercader Vald\u00e9s, an icon of Torrevieja\u2019s carnival tradition. <\/p>\n
