He had a gunshot wound to the chest and signs of strangulation. His partner was at the scene and called the emergency services. The car was registered to his wife.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Legal problems after political career<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Between 2011 and 2015, Torr\u00f3 was mayor on behalf of the Partido Popular. After his term of office, he became embroiled in legal proceedings. In 2023, the court sentenced him to three and a half years in prison and a six and a half year professional ban for embezzlement in the Tele 7 case. He was alleged to have used municipal funds to finance a local television station. Torr\u00f3 contested the charges and appealed, arguing that the case was politically motivated. The local Partido Popular faction distanced itself from him and other people involved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Financial obligations to the municipality<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2022, the Spanish Supreme Court ruled that the former mayor of Gandia must pay back \u20ac350,000 to the Gandia City Council for unauthorized payments to a media company.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Successful business career<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to his political career, Torr\u00f3 was known as an entrepreneur. From 1994 to 2008, he headed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masvision.es\/\">Masvisi\u00f3n<\/a>, an optical chain with more than 300 branches in Spain and an annual turnover of \u20ac90 million. After the sale, he started the hearing care chain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.angelsfon.com\/\">Angels Fon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Investigation into cause of death<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Guardia Civil is investigating the circumstances of his death. Both personal and professional conflicts are being considered as possible causes.
