What had felt normal for years \u2014 late lunches, hot meals during the day, light breakfasts \u2014 turned out to be a whole new concept for many. And honestly? Since I started following it more consciously myself, I\u2019ve noticed how much of a difference it makes. Not just for my energy, but also for my sense of calm.    <\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\">Why it feels different here<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">In Spain, eating isn\u2019t a break \u2014 it\u2019s a cornerstone. Something the day is built around. The morning starts light, lunch is late and substantial, and dinner shifts to a time when the heat has finally eased. It might sound impractical \u2014 but it works. Because it flows with the rhythm of the land. And with your body.     <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Having lunch at three o\u2019clock isn\u2019t laziness here \u2014 it\u2019s adaptation. When it\u2019s 33 degrees outside, your body doesn\u2019t want a heavy meal at noon. It simply doesn\u2019t ask for it.  <\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\">The Mediterranean eating rhythm in three steps<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">What I\u2019ve noticed myself is that my energy and digestion have become much more stable since I started following this rhythm. No blood sugar crashes, no rushed feeling after a sandwich at my laptop. It goes something like this:  <\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">light breakfast \u2014 fruit, coffee, water. No rush, no cereal-stress <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">main lunch \u2014 a hot meal, with vegetables and olive oil. Often followed by a moment of rest <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">light evening meal \u2014 often after nine. Salad, soup, something simple <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I love cooking with fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables. <a href=\"https:\/\/thesoundofthecosta.com\/en\/three-summer-recipes-with-zucchini-flowers-and-homegrown-herbs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">These summery recipes featuring courgette flowers<\/a> are a perfect match. <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In between, there\u2019s room for a piece of fruit, a handful of nuts, a cortado on a terrace. But it never feels like snacking \u2014 more like gentle steering.  <\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\">What your body is trying to tell you<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">In the Netherlands, I often treated meals like a task to get through. Here, I\u2019ve started listening differently. When am I truly hungry? What does my body actually crave? How much space is there inside me?    <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">By having lunch later, I find my mornings stay focused for longer. By eating a warm meal during the hottest part of the day, I\u2019m giving my body something gentle \u2014 not just something to chew on. And in the evening, I eat less \u2014 because I simply don\u2019t need more.  <\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\">But I\u2019ve got a job to do, right?<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">Absolutely. So do I. And the Spanish eating rhythm isn\u2019t something everyone can copy one-to-one. But you can take something from it:   <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Stop eating by the clock<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Notice when you\u2019re actually hungry<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Eat warm when your body craves something gentle<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Give yourself a break after lunch \u2014 even if it\u2019s just a short one<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">Don\u2019t turn dinner into a race against the clock<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">These aren\u2019t rules.
