Life may be settling back into a sense of normal, but your skin sees it differently. It\u2019s still carrying hours of sun in its pores, salt on its cheeks, and perhaps a touch of dryness, pigmentation or tightness. In short: late summer is when your skin needs some extra care.     <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I still remember years ago, standing on the beach after a sun-soaked summer, touching my face and thinking: wow \u2014 this feels like leather. No need to panic, it does recover. But it needs a little love. Late summer is the moment when your skin wants to settle down.   <\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\">What the sun does to your skin<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Spanish sun is no joke. Even with sunscreen, the heat finds its way in. Your skin slowly slips out of balance: moisture evaporates, elasticity dips, pigment cells become more active.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">You might not notice it straight away, but come September it suddenly shows: a duller tone, less radiance, fine lines that look a little deeper. That\u2019s not ageing \u2014 that\u2019s fatigue. Your skin has had its holiday, but now it\u2019s ready for recovery.  <\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\">The three S\u2019s of late-summer skin<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">In my practice, I use three simple key words to help people understand their skin better at this time of year: <span class=\"s1\"><b>slow down, soften, support.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Slow down<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Stop trying to do it all. Give yourself fewer stimuli. Yes, your skin too. Skip the peels and the harsh scrubs for a while. Let your skin breathe.    <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Soften<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Use products with calming ingredients: aloe vera, cucumber, hyaluronic acid. And drink enough water \u2014 not because it works miracles, but because hydrated skin is less prone to irritation. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Support<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Gently massage your face with oil (almond oil is a favourite here). Cleanse softly but consistently. And avoid hot showers \u2014 your skin barrier needs calm right now.  <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4 class=\"p1\">Following your skin\u2019s rhythm<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">What I\u2019ve learned: your skin doesn\u2019t want to be perfect, it wants to be in balance. And balance isn\u2019t achieved by constantly adding more, but by noticing what can be less. <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In late summer, caring for your skin often means less: less make-up, less chemical sunscreen, less fussing around. It\u2019s in that calm that your skin recovers \u2014 a bit like nature itself when the heat slowly begins to fade.  <\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\">Bonus: steaming out the sun, salt and sweat<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">I sometimes end the summer with a visit to a hammam. Not for the luxury, but for the reset effect: warm steam opens your pores, a scrub removes the last traces of sunscreen and sand, and your skin feels fresh again. I once wrote about <a href=\"https:\/\/thesoundofthecosta.com\/en\/wellness-at-the-costas-relax-recover-and-recharge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">those temples where you can experience ultimate wellness<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">But you can do it at home too. Take a warm shower, scrub with a homemade olive oil and salt mix, and finish with a cold splash. Happy skin, happy you.  <\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\">What I&#8217;m doing now<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">In September, I only use the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">a gentle cleansing milk<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">rose water as a toner<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">a few drops of oil<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">a sun hat (seriously \u2014 it helps!)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">and occasionally a yoghurt and honey mask<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">Not because I have to, but because it helps. My skin feels calmer, smoother, less tight. And for me, that\u2019s the sign I\u2019m in the right rhythm.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>September.
