The days grow shorter, the evenings longer, and even on the Costa you can feel the shift. The light changes. The sun sits lower, the shadows soften. And at the same time, you realise just how important light really is \u2014 for your energy, your mood and even your appetite.    <\/p>\n<h4>Daylight as natural fuel<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">Light isn\u2019t a luxury. It\u2019s fuel. Your body uses daylight to regulate your biological clock, keep your hormones in balance and stabilise your mood. Less light means less serotonin \u2014 and that often translates into lower energy levels. It explains why, in winter, we crave comfort food and sofa evenings more than salads and early starts.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On the Costa, you have an advantage: even in November there are plenty of sunny days. Yet many expats still spend too much time indoors \u2014 at home, in the car, in supermarkets. Fifteen minutes of morning sun on your skin often does more than an entire afternoon under fluorescent lights.  <\/p>\n<h4>Simple ways to catch more light<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">You don\u2019t need to move house or invest in expensive lamps to feel more energised. It\u2019s about small habits. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Start your day outside.<\/b><\/span> Have breakfast on your balcony, or take a short walk with your coffee.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Open windows and pull back the curtains.<\/b><\/span> Let natural light flood your home, however soft it may be.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Eat light, feel light.<\/b><\/span> Citrus fruit, nuts, fish and fresh vegetables support your energy levels.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Keep moving.<\/b><\/span> Walking or cycling in daylight is more effective than any supplement.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>The mental side of light<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">Dark days can affect your mood, but that too is something you can influence. A conscious focus on light makes a real difference. Play music that lifts your spirits, plan your work around the brightest hours of the day, and switch to warm lighting in the evening instead of harsh white light. It soothes both your eyes and your mind.   <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In Spain, this comes naturally. Terraces stay open, even in winter. People actively seek out the light \u2014 literally and figuratively. And that\u2019s why they often seem so vital.
