The animals seem to be adapting quickly to human environments. During the summer months, when tourist numbers soar and more waste is produced, the boars become even more active. Their expanding presence across Marina Alta, including Javea, is leaving a noticeable impact: overturned gardens, ripped-open garbage, and a rising number of road accidents. <\/p>\n

Why do wild boars move to the city?<\/h3>\n

Experts point to food scarcity in their natural habitats as a key driver. Forest fires and shrinking woodlands have reduced their traditional sources of sustenance, pushing the animals to seek alternatives. Urban areas, with their abundance of easily accessible trash, offer a tempting solution. <\/p>\n

The boars’ advance isn’t just an inconvenience\u2014it\u2019s a pressing issue for local authorities. In February, mayors from the region convened in Javea to discuss the problem.
