Alicante is Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2025

Alicante has been elected Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2025, taking over from Oviedo. The city defeated Antequera (Málaga), who finished as finalist. Mayor Luis Barcala stressed the importance of this for tourism in Alicante, calling it an essential part of the local identity.

With over 1,700 dining options, including Michelin-star restaurants and Repsol-suns, Alicante offers an extensive culinary scene. The title of Capital of Gastronomy is expected to have a promotional and economic impact of more than 15 million euros on the city.
