Cartagena diving expedition incident: 37-year-old woman dies

A tragedy has struck Cartagena when a 37-year-old woman lost her life during a diving expedition in the Cueva del Agua, located in Isla Plana, Murcia. The incident occurred on Saturday night, when the Emergency Coordination Centre ‘1-1-2’ received an emergency call at 23:04. The caller, who was at the entrance of the cave, reported that his diving partner was missing and in possible danger. In response to the call, the Special Group for Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the Civil Guard, together with firefighters from the Cartagena Fire and Rescue Service (SEIS), were sent to the scene. They were supported by local police and an ambulance. After hours of searching, the woman’s lifeless body was found at around 1:45 am. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fatal incident.
