In Malaga, two new speed cameras have been put into service by the Spanish traffic authority DGT (Dirección General de Tráfico). During the first month after installation, speeding offenders will only receive a warning letter without a fine. However, regular fines will be issued from the end of February.

Speed camera MA-20: Carlos Haya tunnel
The first speed camera is located on the MA-20 (Ronda Oeste), just before the entrance to the false tunnel at Carlos Haya, in the direction of Malaga Este. Here, a section control is in place between kilometre points 9.3 and 10.3, with a speed limit of 80 km/h. This section of the road is known as a risk area due to excessive speeds and collisions. The new control should improve road safety.

Speed camera A-7054: Campanillas
The second speed camera has been installed on the A-7054, near Campanillas, in the direction of Pizarra. The exact location is at kilometre point 3.5. This is near the Famadesa factory on Camino de Santa Inés. The speed limit here is 50 km/h, due to the fact that it is an urban route.

Signage and availability
The DGT emphasises that the new speed cameras are clearly indicated by roadside signs. Furthermore, their locations are available on the official DGT website. Furthermore, this data has been shared with navigation systems, so that drivers are warned in good time.

Expansion of speed cameras in Malaga
In addition to these two new speed cameras, more devices have recently been installed on major roads in the province of Malaga. On the San Rafael road (A-7), two cameras have been operational since mid-January, at kilometre 113 near Cortijo de Torres and Victoria Kent train station. Both devices enforce a speed limit of 50 km/h.
